How To Run An Art Sale Fundraiser

Art sale fundraisers are a great way to raise money for your community or school, especially if you’re raising money for an arts program. Most of the time, an art sale fundraiser is hosted like a gallery viewing, with supporters purchasing tickets in order to attend, and having the option to bid on a piece of art that is for sale. It’s expected at these events to have refreshments, so make sure that you plan for that in your budget. There are a few ways to run this kind of fundraiser:

Student art sale:

If you’re running your art sale for an arts program, or for your high school, have your students showcase their art for the art sale. This is a super fun way to put the art of your students or community members on display, and it’s a great confidence builder for your students to have their work bought by your supporters. It also means that more supporters are likely to come, because they will be supporting their friends and family on top of supporting your cause.

Host a fine art sale:

Hosting a fine art sale is a bit more complicated. If you don’t have any connections to artists, approach a gallery in your area and ask them if they would be willing to host your art sale at their gallery, with a portion of each sale going to your team, cause, or school.

How your fundraiser raises money:

Your fundraiser raises money through ticket sales and the sale of the art itself. When you’re deciding on the ticket price for your fundraiser, factor in how much your fundraising event is going to cost you, and price your tickets accordingly. Generally, if you’re running a student art sale at a school or community centre, charge less than if your sale is at an upscale gallery.

What you’ll need:

You’ll need a few volunteers walking around so that your supporters can notify a volunteer if they want to purchase a painting. Your volunteers should have an identifier on them, like a pin or name tag, so that your supporters know who to talk to.

Extras for your fundraiser:

Art sales usually have refreshments, so have drinks and snacks available for your supporters. This kind of fundraiser should function like a social event where there is art to be bought, not just a straight sale, especially if you are charging your supporters for entry.

Bonus cash back for your fundraiser:
